The Izarraitz massif located in the Urola valley, within the municipalities of Azkoitia, Azpeitia and Zestoa, has been declared a Protected Natural Space and is spread over 1,531.5 hectares having three major mountains: Erlo (1026m), Kakute (942m) and Xoxote (930m).

The Hernio-Gazume area is a calcareous formation composed of karst caves and rocky peaks. It has been declared as a Special Area of Conservation and is part of the Natura 2000 network. In total it has 2,160 hectares spread among the municipalities of Aia, Albiztur, Alkiza, Asteasu, Bidegoian, Errezil, Hernialde, Larraul and Tolosa. The area is a haven for countless species of flora and fauna and it is also home to a large number of species of special biodiversity interest. At the top we can find hawks and Griffon vultures and as well as Montagu's harriers nests. Winding down we find grasslands and mixed forest composed of elm trees, maple trees, linden trees, ash trees and hazelnut trees. Many species of bats live in the numerous caves and abysses of the area

The miracle of the union of sea with earth

The Geopark of the westesrn Basque Coast is formed by a spectacular coastline that offers us a highly valuable geological, landscape and cultural heritage. This coastal area that encompasses the towns of Zumaia, Deba and Mutriku is part of the European Geoparks Network.
This natural treasure has been created by the erosive action during millions of years by the sea. Successive rocky strata have created a geological formation called Flysch which is about 60 million years old and reflects the major events in Earth's history. Many of these strata have become international points of reference in the geological time of the planet.

Ibai-Eder reservoir

Circular route.
Length: 6,8 km.

The ibai-eder reservoir is located in the neighbourhood of Nuarbe in an area belonging to the municipalities of Azpeitia and Beizama. The reservoir caters to 68,000 inhabitants of Urola Medio, Bajo and Costa (Azkoitia, Azpeitia, Zestoa, Zumaia, Getaria, Zarautz and Orio) with an annual consumption of 6,598,000 m³. The reservoir built in 1991 is fed apart from the flow of Ibai-eder and Ibar rivers, by catchment water of a 30 square kilometres area.
